Our vision
Producing low-carbon, local energy, acting as a committed player for a sustainable future
Since 2008, Photosol has been helping to transform the energy landscape in France. Today, the company is pursuing this ambition on a European scale, convinced that photovoltaic solar energy is an asset for our future energy mix, one of the most competitive renewable energies that can be adapted to the specific characteristics of each region. Its rapid deployment is an asset that will enable us to respond effectively to the massive electrification expected.
Photosol is determined to play its full part in this transformation of the energy mix, and is fully committed to a sustainable future.
Photovoltaics: A pathway to successful transitions
At Photosol, we are driven by the belief that large-scale photovoltaic installations—both ground-mounted and rooftop—play a key role in building a sustainable future. Harnessing solar radiation to generate electricity is one of the most powerful tools we have to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, while also supporting local and regional development.
In the face of climate change, multiple transitions are underway—including the energy transition, the agricultural transition, and the transformation of landscapes—all of which Photosol is committed to supporting.
Climate and energy transition
Our installations help reinvent how electricity is produced and consumed, bringing energy generation closer to end users. In response to climate change and its impacts, rising energy costs, and uncertainties around supply, the expansion of photovoltaic energy is essential. According to the latest update of RTE’s “Futurs énergétiques 2050” scenarios, achieving 90 GWp of installed capacity by 2035 would require an annual deployment of 7 GWp. This growth is vital for ensuring energy sovereignty and successfully driving the ecological transition.
Agricultural transition
By supporting the evolution of farming models through photovoltaic innovation and early agrivoltaic feedback, solar energy contributes to transforming agriculture. Agrivoltaics offers a promising solution for the agricultural transition, while creating new economic opportunities for farmers and their operations.
Transforming landscapes
To meet electricity demand, regions will need to host and promote new energy production infrastructure, including ground-mounted photovoltaic systems. According to the third Multiannual Energy Program (PPE 3), nearly 50% of solar energy is expected to come from these installations. This shift toward low-carbon energy represents a major challenge for regional planning—requiring us to reimagine French landscapes with a significantly greater presence of energy production sites.
Photovoltaics: A complementary expertise to accelerate the energy transition
While we aim to remain a leading player in the large-scale ground-mounted solar market in France, we are also strengthening our presence in smaller installations (1 MW) as well as large rooftop systems—such as agricultural sheds, industrial and commercial rooftops, and solar carports.
In response to the challenges of decarbonization and energy sovereignty, we are also expanding our offerings with innovative solutions dedicated to electricity storage, self-consumption, and electric mobility.
Our expertise is being deployed internationally, particularly in Italy and Spain, as well as in Eastern Europe—most notably in Poland, the country most reliant on coal.
Advancing agrivoltaics for sustainable projects
We were among the first to develop large-scale agrivoltaic installations in France, demonstrating our ability to deliver sustainable solutions that directly address the challenges of the agricultural transition and meet the needs of farming operations.
With expertise across the entire value chain, we play a leading role in driving innovation within the sector, aiming to develop long-lasting solar projects that generate local value.
By exploring and integrating new technologies—such as smart panel control systems, water management and retention tools, and real-time monitoring of both agricultural and energy performance—we are designing the next generation of solar-agriculture projects.
Fostering dialogue and creating local value
Designing, financing, building, and operating a photovoltaic installation to produce clean electricity means actively contributing to the ecological transition—while viewing it as a powerful lever for regional development, benefiting local stakeholders and generating the greatest possible positive impact.
We believe that the added value generated by renewable energy must directly benefit host communities, particularly municipalities. These local governments should receive the majority share of the flat-rate network company tax in the future, as they are the driving force behind the momentum created by these new installations. Alongside them, we are committed to acting as a responsible economic player and a long-term partner.
Our Consultation Charter embodies this ambition. With our teams based in the regions, we promote open dialogue, provide the most complete and accessible information possible, and apply our expertise to deliver solutions tailored to local needs.
We embrace pragmatism and creativity
Now part of the Rubis Group, Photosol remains a human-scale company—agile in responding to market changes and equipped with the expertise needed to meet the technological challenges of new projects.
Our boldness and capacity for innovation drive us to imagine future-forward solutions with determination and a rational approach. This is reflected in our current developments, whether they involve large-scale projects on former military airbases or smaller initiatives on degraded land spanning just a few hectares. In every case, our teams have delivered unique solutions tailored to both ecological and technical challenges.
The wide range of completed installations and our ability to solve complex problems illustrate our strength in supporting partners at every stage of their project—always guided by pragmatism and creativity.
We cultivate a long-term vision built on quality, durability, and performance
We believe that thoughtful technological choices and rigorous project management are key to delivering reliable, long-lasting installations. That’s why we select high-quality equipment—audited and guaranteed for up to 30 years for modules, and 25 years for entire systems.
Our techno-economic approach stands out through its high level of expertise, precision, and control in defining our standards and technical specifications. We build strong, long-term partnerships through tailored processes and contracts that allow us to manage costs and timelines while ensuring maximum flexibility. We’ve also made the strategic choice to internalize both project management assistance (AMO) and operations & maintenance (O&M), enabling us to enhance competitiveness and continually optimize our assets.
This comprehensive approach ensures not only high-quality project delivery, but also sustained and optimized performance over the long term.
